TIL Desk/Business/New Delhi/ The Union Cabinet has decided to extend the additional free 5-kg food grains scheme by four months till March 2022, Union Minister Anurag Thakur announced today.
The PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana was initially provided for a period of three months (April-June 2020) to ameliorate the distress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and was subsequently extended till November 30.
The government had earlier announced that the free food grains programme will not be extended further, but has clearly changed its mind.
