TIL Desk/National/Chandigarh/ Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, never one to mince words, has this to say on the party’s colossal defeat in the polls.
“People who dug holes for Sidhu got buried in holes 10 feet deeper. Let bygones be bygones… People have voted for AAP for a change, I congratulate them. New seeds have to be sown. Not ‘chinta’ but ‘chintan’ should be done,” Sidhu said.
Sidhu lost the Amritsar East seat to Jeevanjyot Kaur of the Aam Aadmi Party by a margin of over 6,000 votes.
Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal ended up with its worst-ever showing at the polls as its tally plummeted to three.
Both the Badals lost from their seats. Sukhbir Singh Badal says, “We accept the people’s verdict. We’ll hold a meeting to introspect the results. We’ll support Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.” Many introspection meetings lined up.
