TIL Desk/National/Bengaluru/ Prohibitory orders have been imposed and security has been tightened in Karnataka’s Kodagu in view of Tipu Jayanti celebrations on Friday. Kodagu district administration said that Section 144 CrPC has been imposed.
Meanwhile, stones were thrown at a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus in Madikeri during protests against Tipu Jayanti celebrations. More details about the incident are awaited.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday opposed the Karnataka government’s decision to celebrate Tipu Sultan’s birth anniversary. BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that the Congress-led government is worried about Tipu Sultan instead of the state’s public.
BJP spokesperson Zafar Islam said the Congress performs these kinds of stunts to appease people, but the BJP is not going to join them.
