TIL Desk Sports/ The Community Football Club of India has been launched here with a view to play in the Youth I-League in the coming years. The new club, launched yesterday, “is an initiative to promote football across the country”, by creating a platform for the budding players across the city, state and nation, it was announced during the launch function held at the Cooperage football stadium.
The club will have the guidance of ‘A’ licensed coaches as technical directors and has the blessing of the local association, MDFA, and the state football body, WIFA.
The club will be managed by its directors, Sudhakar Rane (MDFA VP) and Krishna Pawle (MDFA committee member), along with Irfan Khan, Meghan Pradhan and Siddharth Sabapathy. The club also aims to start academies and form teams to play in the local MDFA league, the club’s officials said.
A book, titled ‘Bayern Factor The Untold Story’, written by Kaushik Malik about his tryst by the famous German club Bayern Munich and its legendary goalie Oliver Kahn, was released in the presence of Mumbai Mayor Vishawanth Mahadeshwar, Germany Consulate General Dr Jurgen Morhard and MDFA President Aditya Thackeray.
