TIL Desk/Business/New Delhi/ Days after taking over as India’s new Civil Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia on Sunday said that budget airline SpiceJet will start eight new flights from Madhya Pradesh starting July 16.
In a tweet, the minister said that the new routes would be Gwalior-Mumbai-Gwalior, Gwalior-Pune-Gwalior, Jabalpur-Surat-Jabalpur, and Ahmedabad-Gwalior-Ahmedabad. “Good news for Madhya Pradesh! Starting 8 new flights from July 16 onwards via @flyspicejet,” he said. Scindia further said that the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the aviation industry are committed to take the regional connectivity service ‘UDAN’ to greater heights.
Maintaining and extending the success of the regional connectivity programme would be a major challenge for the newly-appointed minister.
Scindia took charge of the ministry headquartered at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan here on Friday. He succeeds Hardeep Singh Puri who has now got the Ministry of Petroleum while retaining the Urban Affairs Ministry. Besides, former Army chief-turned-politician General V.K. Singh (retd), the Minister of State in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, is also the new Minister of State for Civil Aviation.
