TIL Desk Bollywood/ Irrfan Khan has released the first look of his film “No Bed of Roses” (or “Doob”), which has been which has been banned in Bangladesh. The 50-year-old actor, who is also the co-producer, shared the poster of the movie directed by Bangladeshi filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki.
“Here’s the poster of Doob …. @EskayMovies #MostofaSarwarFarooki,” tweeted Irrfan. The poster resembles a painting of a mountain with rugged, green terrain, with Irrfan’s face superimpsoed on the canvas.
Speculation has been rife in the Bangladeshi and Indian media that the film is a biopic loosely based on late Bangladeshi writer and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed who divorced his wife of 27 years and married an actress 33 years his junior.
According to Variety, the film begins with a disclaimer that the film has no resemblance to any real life characters alive or dead. Irrfan plays a filmmaker named Javed Hasan who leaves his wife and marries an actress who was his daughter’s classmate in school. Farooki has denied the film is a biopic and is taking matter to court.
