“Udta Punjab” director Anurag move court against the CBFC

TIL Desk Bollywood/ The Producers of Udta Punjab move the Bombay High Court to seek an ‘A’ certificate for the film and other relief. Filmmakers Vikas Bahl and Anurag Kashyap move court against the CBFC.

This morning, Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nihalani, described as a “dictator” by filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, said the 89 cuts imposed on Udta Punjab “have nothing to do with the Punjab elections.” Kashyap’s many allegations against him were baseless, he said.

Nihalani contended that the film shows 70% of the people in the state consume drugs and said the movie puts entire state of Punjab in a bad light. “Nearly 98% of the movie is in Punjabi and based entirely in Punjab. It is not a Hindi film at all,” he said defending the cuts issued for the Kareena Kapoor-Shahid Kapoor starrer.
