Rahul Gandhi protests at Jantar Mantar over SC/ST Bill

TIL Desk/National/New Delhi/ CPM’s Sitaram Yechury and Congress President Rahul Gandhi join the protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.Speaking at Jantar Mantar, Rahul said PM Modi was unsympathetic to the plight of Dalits.

Rahul said the BJP government was anti Dalit and added that the Congress wants the Act in the 9th Schedule. He slammed the government for slamming the provisions under the SC/ST Act.

The Lok Sabha on Monday passed the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Bill, 2018, which seeks to overturn a Supreme Court order that struck down the provision for immediate arrest.

The amendment bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha by Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawar Chand Gehlot last week.
