TIL Desk/National/New Delhi/ Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday referred to the steep fall in indices to take a dig at the Modi government’s Budget and said the sensex had placed a “solid no-confidence motion” against it.
“In Parliamentary language, the Sensex just placed a solid 800 point No Confidence Motion against Modi’s budget,” Gandhi said in a tweet.
The barometer 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) plunged by 839.91 points or 2.34 per cent to 35,066.75 points on Friday, a day after the presentation of the Union Budget by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
Reintroduction of the long-term capital gains (LTCG) tax, along with weak global cues, led to a huge sell-off in the markets on Friday with the key Indian equity indices falling the steepest since November 2016.
