TIL Desk/National/Bulandshahr-Four days after highway robbers raped a woman and her 14-year-old daughter in Bulandshahr, members of the family have threatened to commit suicide if they are not given justice within three months.
A 300-member task force has been set up to look into the matter as the victims accused the UP Police of negligence. One of the victims said a police van drove past the spot during the assault but no one paid any heed to their cries. They also said the police helpline was either engaged or unanswered.
“We called 100 at 4:01 am but nobody replied. Then we called a friend in Noida who helped us. We tried to contact the police for 15 minutes, but they didn’t respond. We could smell that they were drunk. We shouldn’t have come out of the car but the situation was such that we could not help it. If we don’t get justice, we will have no other way left but to commit suicide,” father of the 14-year-old and husband family of the woman who was raped, said.
