TIL Desk Lucknow/ Brig Sanjay Mishra, SM, VSM, renowned opthalmologist has been awarded with the prestigious ‘Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM)’ by President Droupadi Murmu on the eve of Republic Day. Brig Sanjay Mishra hails from Mau district, UP. He has done his schooling from Prayagraj and now chosen Lucknow as the place of his residence.
Brig Sanjay Mishra was earlier posted in Command Hospital Lucknow as Senior Advisor where he established the Retina Centre which has become one of the busiest Retina Centre. Graduate and Postgraduate of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, Brig SK Mishra did his superspeciality training from the prestigious RP Centre, AIIMS. Brig Sanjay Mishra is one the most decorated doctor of Indian Armed Forces.
Brig Sanjay Mishra is the only ophthalmologist from Armed Forces to have operated two serving Presidents — Mr Ram Nath Kovind and Mrs Droupadi Murmu for their cataract. He had also operated Mrs Savita Kovind. He has been given appreciation letter by former President Mr Ram Nath Kovind for his selfless service and professional competence of high order. He has been previously been awarded twice with Sena Medal (Distinguished) and Vishist Seva Medal. Brig Sanjay Mishra is currently heading the Eye Department of the prestigious Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi.
